Paul & Cath
on holteend's travel map.
We got woken up at 6.30 by people protesting outside of the hotel. Paul tried to call down to reception to see what was going on but nobody answered. Paul went downstairs to find out for himself. They were protesting against the hotel owner because he had cut their wages - Paul told them that he didn't care and that they should get another job if they didn't like it (he was mad because they woke him up so early).
Paul tore up the leaflet and threw it at the guy who was talking to him. They don't strike like we do back at home - they were on their day off so weren't actually sacrificing anything by being there. Paul came back up to the room and Catherine went down and got us some tea and croissants.
We then went out to look for a bag to leave some of our stuff in while we go on the 14 day trek because our bags are currently overflowing! The hotel that the trek starts from will hold onto bags for a charge so we will put all of our non essential items in there to lighten the load. We walked down Wiltshire Boulevard and found a pharmacy so we got some toiletries and also got a cheap holdall. Later that evening Catherine went to mass at a nearby church while Paul sat and watched the TV.
We then had takeaway pizza and Catherine sewed on some patches, that we had bought along the way, to our rucksacks.
We crammed all of our stuff that we were going to leave at the hotel into the holdall and got an early night as we needed to be at the trek hotel early.
