Woke up and went down to the reception to pick up the hire car. We got a good deal on it because most people hire cars from LA - Vegas and leave them there so they offer cheaper rates to drive them back the other way. After booking the hire car we went back up to our room to collect Britney and Ryan - how they have grown since we started! Cath's rucksack made her about 8 foot tall - at one point Paul had to catch her to stop her from falling over!
When we checked out we asked if we could have some of the food we ordered to the room comped (given to us free because we had stayed for so long). After a little while the man came back to us and they had agreed to wipe $100 off the total bill which was a bonus.
After we stocked up on drinks we went up to the parking lot and loaded up our car. It was quite cool (Paul made us upgrade it!) and would get us to LA in no time! We were quite sad when we pulled out of New York New York as it had been our home for the last week and we had a brilliant time staying there.
Our first stop was to go and pick up Paul's skyding DVD from the airfield where he had jumped a few days before. We managed to get their in one piece - Catherine was loving the wheels! When we were there Paul swapped his t-shirt for a smaller size because the first one he got was like a tent.
We then decided to make a detour and stop off and take a look around the Hoover Dam.
Again we got there fine - it was a really nice sunny day and we had some tunes blaring out, shades on and windows down. We parked up and walked over the Dam. When we got inside we decided to do the tour - it wasn’t as good as we went down the last time as they don’t take you down to the bottom because of 9/11. At least we could understand the tour guide this time! He explained that they have had a drought for the last 10 years and you could see from the lake how high the water normally is.
After the tour we went and got an ice cream and some patches and got back into the car and set off towards LA. It took us a few hours to get to LA as we stopped off to get some food - subway was closed so we stopped at Burger King. Paul had one of the giant milkshakes and felt sick afterwards! It was cool when we drove into the city as the freeway passes the skyline and you get a really good view. It took us ages to find the car rental place but when we eventually did (around midnight) we returned and got a taxi to our hotel in down town LA.
Paul went and got us a can of pop each and then we went to bed.
