Houston - Day 28

sunny
View Paul & Cath on holteend's travel map.

Got up and Catherine did some laundry. Went for a bit of a walk around Houston. Went to the small Mall and had lunch at pot bellies. Where Catherine learnt that a cheese salad sandwich was called a Veggie in America! Then we did some shopping. We bought a book each. Then went had some cookies while deciding what to do next (There's not much to do in Houston!) We decided to go and sit in the Park and get a bit of sunshine on our faces, while reading our new books. The park wasn't as great as expected because it was filled with homeless people (we have also discovered that homeless people in America do not keep themselves to themselves, they enjoying talking to you!) So after a while of Paul being too hot and the Park being a bit naff we went back to the hotel. Catherine started using the hair dryer to encourage the clothes she had washed to dry and Paul surfed the net. When it was time we walked to the baseball stadium, Minute Maid Park. On the way there it began raining and we realised we had forgotten the camera. So once the rain had stopped we went back to the hotel and got the camera and the umbrella. The baseball stadium had its roof closed because of the rain (yes it rains in Texas). The stadium is located on an old train station so when they get a home run or win a train runs along the top end of the stadium. After extra innings the Houston Astros won so we got to see the train go across the stadium.
